Mood Support Diet

A diet to help improve your mood:

1. eat foods high in potassium, such as:

low-sodium V8 juice
reduced fat potato chips
tomato soup
sun-dried tomatoes
french fries
hash browns
hulled hemp seeds

You don’t need to eat all of the above foods. As an example, one 10-oz glass of low-sodium V8 juice and 3 ounces of potato chips would be sufficient for a day’s worth of potassium. The amount of potassium recommended (by the Institute of Medicine) for adults is 4,700 milligrams per day. Most persons in western society get far less. The above diet aims to give you at least 2,000 mg. per day of potassium.

2. take a chelated magnesium supplement 100 mg per capsule, 2 capsules per day for women; or 3 capsules per day for men. For example: Advanced Magnesium

3. * new addition to the diet* Take a zinc supplement of 20 to 40 mg per day.

Zinc has been shown to work in conjunction with magnesium to improve mood.

4. In addition, eat a normal healthy diet.

That’s all. Three steps to improve mood. I would emphasize the high-potassium foods for the first month, then cut back to a more moderate maintenance level of potassium. Do NOT take potassium supplements. Get your potassium from your diet.

This diet does not diagnose, treat, or cure any ailment or disorder.

No promises. Try it and see if it works for you.
